Natural Swimming Pool: The Porto Moniz natural swimming-pool complex formed by volcanic rock pools is undoubtedly the main attraction of this municipality and of the whole island.
The sea flows naturally into the pools constantly renewing the clear waters that delight users. Visitors may here dive, swim and give wings to their imagination. Besides their natural charm, these pools are endowed with support facilities, namely a children playground, a ramp for the handicapped, bathing and changing-rooms, bar and first-aid post. The complex is supervised by a team of lifeguards.
Madeira Aquarium: The building where this aquarium is installed is an exact replica of the São João Baptista Fort that stood on this location. The interior of the fort was adapted to house the Madeira Aquarium.
This aquarium, located in the village of Porto Moniz, is composed by eleven exhibition tanks, in wich the habitats of the Madeira marine world are represented.
Live Science Center: Located in the village of Porto Moniz, this building is part of network of luive science centres created by the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture.
In effect, the centre hosts national and international exhibitions, with interactive games, as well as other forms of scientific communication.
This centre follows a line of modern science museums responding to the needs of an adult audience and, particularly, of children, who were learn by touching, exploring, handling and experimenting. There is also a cyber zone where the visitor can relax and have internet access.
Achadas da Cruz Cable Car: This comfortable and safe means of transport connects the parish of Achadas da Cruz to the sea and to otherwise inaccessible spots of great beauty. When travelling in the cable car, visitors are presented with the amazing sights of the green mantle over Porto Moniz and of the coast overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
This cable car is used frequently by farmers to transport products and agricultural utensils, to cultivate the land by the sea shore.
Fanal: This is an excellent choice in Porto Moniz. In this pleasant spot you will find barbecues, tables and benches, lawns and ample parking space. Also, you may go on one of several possible walks, surrounded by lush vegetation and beautiful panoramas of Chão da Ribeira and Ribeira Funda, which integrate the parish of Seixal. This Area of Fana, is part of the laurel forest, distinguished by UNESCO as World Natural Heritage.
Floresta Laurissilva / Laurel Forest: One of the greatest tourist attractions of the Island of Madeira lies in its spectacular landscape. Its luxurious vegetation continues to fascinate all those closely drawn to nature.
This archipelago, included in the bio-geographic region of Macaronesia, retains a natural heritage of great scientific value, distinguished by UNESCO as World Natural Heritage. This is a unique rarity which has not yet been entirely quantified. It was awarded the distinction of UNESCO World Natural Heritage, on the 2nd December, 1999.This new position of the Region in relation to the rest of the world, enables it to be seen for its true and specific value, as a bio cultural heritage for all humanity.
Levada Walks: One of the main attractions of Porto Moniz, are the Levada Walks.
The Aqua Natura Madeira Hotel, is a strategic point for the walkers, because it's situated close to several levada walks, and footpaths.

Bird watching: Porto Moniz is said to be one of the best strategic spots for bird-watching in Madeira Island.
Bird watching has become very popular in Madeira Island with many excellent locations and reserves around the archipelago. Madeira has a large variety of land and sea birds, 42 breeding species, endemic Macaronesian species some of which only exist in Madeira.
Madeira Island is a great birdwatching destination due to its unique position and ecosystem, many bird species can easily be observed here starting with the land birds, such as the Trocaz Pigeon, Berthelot's Pipit, Buzzard Buteo, Sparrow hawk and a number of sea birds, such as the Fea's Petrel, Zino's Petrel, Cory's, Manx, Little, Great shearwater, Madeiran Storm-petrel, Atlantic Yellow-legged Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull and Ring-billed Gull.
